ION successfully completes public equity offering to delever its business

ION successfully completes public equity offering to delever its business Press Release from PRNEWSWIRE has been published today, Maciej Heyman, .

HOUSTON, Feb. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — ION Geophysical Corporation (NYSE: IO) today announced the successful completion of a public equity offering to begin delevering its business.  ION issued and sold 1,820,000 shares of common stock at a public offering price of $27.50 per share, and warrants to purchase an additional 1,820,000 shares of ION’s common stock.  The net proceeds from this offering were $47,547,500, excluding transaction expenses.  The net proceeds will primarily be used to retire ION’s third lien indentures of $28,500,000 on or prior to the May 15, 2018 maturity date and for general corporate purposes. The warrants have an exercise price of $33.60 per share, are immediately exercisable and expire on March 21, 2019.  If the warrants are exercised in full prior to their expiration, ION would receive additional proceeds of $61,152,000

“The successful equity offering is not only an endorsement of our asset light strategy, but also a recognition of the velocity in our business and our underlying value,” stated Brian Hanson, ION’s President and Chief Executive Officer.  “While we had sufficient liquidity to retire the third lien bond maturing this May, these additional funds will further strengthen our balance sheet and enable us to be opportunistic and support continued diversification into adjacent markets.  I’m really pleased with the transaction.  The combination of the capital we raised today plus the potential exercise of the warrants in the next 13 months, along with our current liquidity and free cash flow throughout 2018, should position us with excess cash by early 2019 well in advance of the second lien indentures coming due in 2021.”

Babson College To Restore And Relocate Historic Globe To Heart Of Campus

Babson College To Restore And Relocate Historic Globe To Heart Of Campus Press Release from PRNEWSWIRE has been published today, Maciej Heyman, .

WELLESLEY, Mass., Feb. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — Babson College plans to restore its historic Globe and make it the centerpiece of a symbolic new park that will be located near the heart of its Wellesley campus. Commissioned in 1947 by founder Roger Babson to represent his vision for the worldwide impact of the College’s mission, the Globe was, for decades, the largest rotating replica of the Earth in the world.

Centennial Park and the Globe’s restoration are being funded through the generosity of alumnus and trustee Robert Weissman ’64, H’94, P’87 ’90, and his wife Jan, P’87 ’90.

As part of the Globe’s restoration plan, a team of engineers is investigating how to make the Globe once again rotate—something it has not been able to do since the mechanics stopped working in the early 1990s. This project also will provide an opportunity for student collaboration and engagement in the restoration process.

Beginning this March, the Globe will move to a temporary home in Babson’s Trim Parking Lot where it will be staged for a yearlong refurbishment. In May 2019, the Globe will be unveiled in its new Centennial Park location.

Centennial Park will be a centralized, eye-catching community gathering space that brings together existing and new Babson landmarks, and will serve as a visual representation of the College’s history and accomplishments during its first 100 years.

“Centennial Park will create an important new community gathering space at the heart of our campus,” said President Kerry Healey. “The restoration of the iconic Babson Globe and its prominent new home in Centennial Park will celebrate Babson’s history and increasingly global presence, and highlight the positive impact that our incredible community of 40,000 alumni and friends in 114 countries will have on the world.”

Transforming Babson’s Campus for Its Second Century

During the past two years, faculty, students, and staff have been consulted on which academic and community resources will be needed to advance Babson’s mission in the years ahead. The Park is the fourth in a series of major campus transformations designed to enhance the student experience and lead Babson into its second century as the world’s preeminent leader in entrepreneurship education.

The three projects previously announced include the:

Babson World Globe

Known by generations of Babson community members, historians, and world enthusiasts alike, the Babson World Globe originated from the ideas and notions of the College’s founder, Roger Babson, and his grandson Roger Webber.

It was completed in 1955, measuring 28 feet in diameter and weighing 25 tons, and was the world’s largest revolving globe for decades.

By 1989, the Globe was in dire need of restoration and was facing demolition. Through the rallying of Babson students, faculty and staff, and the philanthropic efforts of the broader Babson College community, the Babson World Globe was restored and ultimately rededicated as part of Babson’s 75th anniversary celebrations in 1993.

Read the full history of the Babson World Globe »

The Globe is currently located on Map Hill Drive in a small park adjacent to the Coleman residence hall. As part of its move, the College invites the community to visit the Globe in its current space before preparations begin on Friday, March 9th, and also to share their ideas for how the land behind Coleman might be used in the future once the Globe has been relocated.

Centennial Park

Centennial Park will be a stunning, visual representation of what it means for Babson College to be entering its second century—a celebration of its first 100 years and the positive impact of its alumni, faculty, students, and staff on humanity around the world.

Located opposite the Reynolds Campus Center, the Park will showcase Babson’s increasing global presence in entrepreneurship education and highlight its powerful global network of alumni, students, families, faculty, and staff.

The restored Babson Globe will serve as a centerpiece to the Park and will be surrounded by the Yeager Garden—the landscaped green space that accompanies the Globe now and was generously endowed by William L. Yeager ’49 and Barbara K. Yeager in 1996. The Yeagers’ philanthropic efforts also helped restore the Globe between 1991 and 1993.

The Fountain of Flags, which represents the more than 80 nations that Babson students call home and that currently adorns the entrance to Horn Library, will be redesigned and relocated to Centennial Park.

At the base of the Globe will stand a new statue of Roger Babson, commemorative of his formal Babson World Globe dedication on June 18, 1955.

The creation of Centennial Park will begin in July 2018 and conclude in May 2019.

CobbleCord Launches Powerful Search Feature To Help Consumers Get More From Streaming And Cut The Cord

CobbleCord Launches Powerful Search Feature To Help Consumers Get More From Streaming And Cut The Cord Press Release from PRNEWSWIRE has been published today, Maciej Heyman, .

NEW YORK, Feb. 21, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — CobbleCord, the free website and App that creates personalized streaming bundles, today announced the launch of a powerful new Streaming Service Search feature (www.CobbleCord.com/search), which gives users even more control over determining their online streaming mix. Users can now search for streaming services using multiple criteria, including show, network, genre and more. This new functionality furthers CobbleCord’s mission to (1) transform how people manage their entertainment, (2) empower them to break out of the traditional TV bundle and (3) streamline the streaming process.

The newly released feature allows users to simultaneously filter by show, network, device, category, genre and offering, enabling them to narrow down the nearly 200 streaming services in CobbleCord’s database to those that meet their specific criteria. Clicking on each result displays comprehensive details on each service, including information on content, price, device support and special features. Users can also save services to a ‘Favorites’ list that they can refer back to. Although CobbleCord is free, site registration is required to use this new feature.

CobbleCord, which launched in the Fall of 2016, lets people cobble together personalized bundles of online streaming services to help them get the most out of streaming and get rid of cable.  Users answer a few simple questions about what they like to watch, how they like to watch it and their monthly price range. Then, through its patent-pending process, CobbleCord presents them with a custom combination of both free and paid streaming services tailored to their needs.

“We started with a very simple premise — to help people create their own personalized TV bundle, and our new Streaming Service Search feature helps take that to the next level,” said Virginia Juliano, CEO and Founder of CobbleCord. “People have a visceral hatred of the cable bundle,” she continued. “They truly resent being forced to pay for bloated TV packages with channels they don’t want and don’t watch. Cord-cutting is accelerating, but many people still have cable, even though they are deeply dissatisfied, because they are too overwhelmed and confused to take action. CobbleCord gives them the tools to make that leap.”

Prior to launching CobbleCord, Juliano was a marketing and distribution executive at Showtime Networks Inc., and helped lead the effort to bring Showtime’s OTT (over the top) streaming service to market. “There have been so many developments in the space over the last few years that even avid streamers are probably not fully aware of all of their options,” Juliano added. “CobbleCord is a completely independent and agnostic voice focused on helping users make educated, ongoing decisions around streaming and cord cutting.”

It takes users less than an hour to learn to tap using the TapGenius app. The TapGenius learning system breaks down the alphabet into eight easy to remember “tap-sets.” The app combines musical and visual mnemonic tutorials for each set as well as engaging game-play. Tap also provides an auditory learning system, TapAloud, for visually disabled tappers.

Tap was developed by veteran entrepreneurs Dovid Schick and Sabrina Kemeny

Sabrina was a co-inventor of the CMOS camera chip – the underlying technology behind all modern digital imaging. She is the founder and former CEO of Photobit, which commercialized the CMOS camera technology. Dovid, the inventor of Tap, is the founder and former CEO of Schick Technologies, which pioneered digital imaging in medicine and dentistry.

“Tap represents an entirely new way to interact with our digital world,” said Dovid Schick, CEO and Founder of Tap Systems. “Tapping is a fast, precise, natural human motion and we have developed the technology to harness this ability to turn any surface into a keyboard, mouse or game controller.”

“It’s amazing to see people using Tap for the first time,” said Sabrina Kemeny, Co-Founder of Tap Systems. “They immediately know that this is the input technology of the future. It’s a feeling of being freed from hunching over your keyboard or holding your phone up to your eyes. Tap makes interacting with your phones and digital devices a more natural, organic experience.”

Because tapping is tactile, Tap users do not need to see the surface they are using. This makes Tap a unique solution for everyone from visually disabled users, to virtual reality gamers. Tap can act as an easy method to enter text on mobile devices as well as a futuristic game controller.

The Company has also released three mobile games which give users a taste of the unique experience of gaming with Tap (TapTapbunny, TapLoops and TapChase). Tap Systems currently offers game developers Unity™ plugins for iOS and Android systems, and supports single and multiplayer games. Many developers have already noted a wide variety of applications that benefit from the versatile new interface.
